Laura Garcia Smothers

Associate Attorney

About

Laura Garcia Smothers is an associate attorney at Clausewitz Reyes. Laura’s litigation practice primarily focuses on business law issues, including commercial disputes, real estate, breach of contract, business torts, fiduciary duties, deceptive trade practices, and construction defects.

Ms. Smothers is dedicated to serving our community in particular the foster care and youth of San Antonio. She has served as a mentor for a specialty court in Bexar County, that focuses on young women transitioning out of foster care. She has also volunteered as an advocate for CASA San Antonio. CASA is a local nonprofit that advocates for children in foster care.

Laura brings unique experience that allow her to form a personal connection to the Firm’s small business clients. From her own personal experience, Ms. Smothers has seen the importance of small businesses not only having a knowledgeable attorney representing its interests, but a compassionate one as well. Laura’s parents were small business owners when they acquired her grandfather’s Mexican food business, a business that had existed for generations of her family.

Laura has been able to see firsthand the valuable role small businesses play in our community and all the hard work and dedication that goes into successfully running one. This experience allows Laura to fully understand the issues and potential struggles that small business owners face and therefore, more effectively advocate for them with compassion and fervor.
